About
David Joyner is an Assistant District Attorney in Wilmington and an eighth-generation eastern North Carolinian; the son of two retired public school teachers, he worked summers in his grandfather's plumbing business and is a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate. Elected to the Wilmington City Council in November 2025 (term 2025–2029), he was sworn in that December as part of the city's "changing of the guard" class of new council members. He ran on public safety, community justice, and government transparency, drawing on his ADA experience, alongside housing affordability for working families and economic inclusion.
