Lynn Barbee holds a B.S. in Computer Science from UNC-Wilmington and a master's degree; a Hoggard High School graduate, he is a lifelong Carolina Beach resident (since 1971) whose first job was on the Boardwalk at Britt's Donut Shop. He built his career in technology. First elected to the Carolina Beach Town Council in November 2019, he ran unopposed for Mayor in November 2023 and was re-elected in November 2025 (current mayoral term 2025–2027). Barbee represents the town on the Cape Fear Council of Governments and focuses on managing rapid coastal development, beach renourishment and stormwater improvements, short-term-rental regulation, and balanced growth that preserves the town's character.
