Ted Davis, Jr. graduated from New Hanover High School and holds a B.A. in Political Science from UNC-Chapel Hill and a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. He served as Assistant NHC County Attorney, Assistant State District Attorney, and Assistant U.S. Attorney before opening a solo law practice in 1984 (retired from law in 2016). Davis previously served on the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners from 1996–2011, including as Chair. Elected to the NC House in November 2020 representing the new District 20 (New Hanover) and re-elected in 2022 and 2024 (current term through January 1, 2027), he brings deep judicial and local-government expertise to committee work, with a long record on local-government finance, property rights, conservative fiscal and criminal-justice policy, and elections-law reforms.
